Countdown to Mets Fantasy Camp 9 Days to Go.

Ty Wigginton
The one that got away, actually the 2 that got away if you factor in that the player the Mets traded with Ty to get Kris Benson was José Bautista. Ty Wigginton was everything you wanted in a baseball player, could play anywhere on the field, he could flat out hit, if you stood in the way of him scoring you were in trouble, one of my all time favorite Mets !
#2
Joe Torre
First and foremost because he is one half of a great trivia question answer about 1969, name the 2 future Met Managers who would make the last out in the pennant clincher and the World Series in 1969, The crowd is chanting, 'We're number one!' The Mets made up 15 1/2 games since the 13th of August. Lou Brock is on second, and Vic Davalillo, the runner on first, with one man out ... ninth inning, 6-0, New York. Gentry pitching, working hard here against Joe Torre. Now in the set position, here's the pitch ... ground ball hit to shortstop ... Harrelson to Weis, there's one, first base ... Double play ... The Mets win! It's all over! Ohhhh, the roar going up from this crowd! An unbelievable scene on the field ... fans are pouring out on the field...and then of course Davey Johnson hitting the fly ball to Cleon Jones complete the Miracle. The other reason is that Joe had a pretty good 1977 season for the Mets in the twilight of his career, batting .306 in 1976

George Theodore
The Stork..yes he was awful, yes there really wasn't one thing he could do adequately, yet that is why you loved him, forget about the Mendoza line it should be renamed the Theodore line as Georges lifetime average with the Mets was .219 .
