Countdown to Mets Fantasy Camp 28 Days to Go.

Every year for the last 3 years as Spring gives way to Fall, Mets season merges into NY Rangers season, I have been able to keep the baseball side of my brain occupied with thoughts of Mets Fantasy Camp. This year more so then ever, in the past I have simply gone down to cover the week long camp as a reporter, this season I am headed down to actually participate as a player. Each year I have tried to find unique ways of counting down the days until camp and sharing them with Mets fans, So this year I will do the countdown by Jersey numbers, When possible I will post my 3 favorite Mets who have worn that number, some numbers are harder then others.

John Milner

The Hammer led the Mets in home runs for 3 straight seasons,Powerful compact swing, always loved after his home runs to see Karl Erhhart's stand up and hold up his "Nailed by the Hammer" sign. I honestly think that John's issues stemmed from working out to much as he was constantly pulling muscles, if he was around today I think he would have a much more sport specific work out routine and he would be one of the leagues elite.

Daniel Murphy

Maybe the best team player the Mets have ever had, Murph has done everything the Mets have asked including playing outfield and first base, he has worked hard to be an adequate second baseman and after 6 years in the majors he is a .290 career hitter. He may be one of the most under appreciated Mets of the 2000's . Murph may not doing anything above average but he does everything very well and has always been a stand up guy.
